The KC-10 extender first flew July 12th 1980 and for the last forty years or so has flown alongside the KC-135 in the a refueling role with the added bonus of having a secondary role as a transporter.
The aircraft are capable of carrying a wide variety of cargoes, including light vehicles, such as Humvees.As time goes on the KC-10 will be replaced by the KC-46.
