The F-35A first flew on the 15th December 2006 and has been purchased by many of the world's air forces. The U.S. Air Force’s 495th Fighter Squadron, part of the 48th Fighter Wing based at Royal Air Force Lakenheath,received its first four F-35A Lightning aircraft.on December 15th 2021.
