In June 2023 the IWI at Duxford celebrated 50 years of Airshows, this was the first full show for 2023 at Duxford, which was around four hours of flying. for a change it was a lovely sunny weekend, which really brought the crowds out, but with some strong winds on Sunday which stopped some of the lighter aircraft flying.
An unusual visitor was the A-400M Atlas from RAF Brize Norton which carried out several passes.
Below we showcase some of the aircraft displaying over the weekend, starting with the Flying Fortress, Sally B teamed up with the P-47 Thunderbolt.
More modern aircraft were Team Raven with their Vans RV8s, a very popular team carrying out many different maneuvers, also Rich Goodwin in his Pitts S-2S Special.
Other aircraft appearing include the pairing of the Spitfire PRX1 and the Lockheed 12A Electra Junior, the Chipmunk and Buldog pair, the Strikemaster pair, and the Beech Staggerwing pair.
Older aircraft included the Corsair and Grumman Bearcat, Spitfires and an odd Hurricane.
To add a touch of older aircraft was the great War Display Team, with some of their replica aircraft including a mixture of British and German aircraft with superb flying and their amazing pyrotechnic display.
Finally a few close ups, one of the Aerosuperbatics Wingwalkers, and the Vampire FB52.
A thoroughly enjoyable weekend with masses of flying coupled with all exhibitions and ground attractions.only to be found at Duxford.
